This section is for home educators or anybody interested in learning more about home education.
School is not always the best place for every child and parents and families should be able to make informed decisions on what kind of education is best for their children.
While many children thrive at school, for others the oportunities and the environemnt of home learning are better suited. At Wonder and Bloom, we make no judgement on how you choose to approach learning. Our purpose is to offer support and guidance based on the choices that you have made or are in the process of making for your family.

Over recent years there has been a growing number of children taken out of mainstream schooling by their parents, to be educated at home. There are many reasons for this. Here at Wonder and Bloom we believe that the way we choose to educate our children is an entirely personal choice and the right of each and every family. We of course appreciate the importance of safeguarding all children and acknowledge the neccesity for some intervention in certain circumstances but we also believe that loving parents should be the ones to make big decisions about their children's lives. Whatever your reasons, we are here to support you.
THE LEGAL STUFF
In the UK, it is your legal responsibility to ensure that your child recieves an education up to the age of 18. It is however entirely up to you to decide how you do this.
If your child is already enrolled in school, you do have to put into writing to the headteacher your intention to homeschool your child and the local authority will be notified as such. After that, how you educate your child at home is in your hands. This may sound intimidating but the freedom afforded to homeschooling means that you can really individualise your child's education to their specific needs, interests and personalities.
WEIGHING THINGS UP
There are a number of things to weigh up when considering homeschooling. First and foremost, what is best for your child (and this may be different for each one) should be the driving force behind your decision but there are also some obvious logistical issues to consider. The biggest one being who will be home with your child/ren? This often comes down to finances and work commitments but there are ways that this can be managed, it might just take some creative thinking on your part - hopefully we can offer some support with this.
THE BEAUTY OF HOME EDUCATION
This is the bit that we love.
When we send our littlies off to nursery or to school, we miss so much of their growth and development but it doesn't have to be this way.
You can watch your child grow into the amazing little human that they are, while embarking on the learning journey with them. You get to follow their curiosity and their interests. You get to learn things you didn't know through the infinite wisdom of your child's natural drive to learn.
It truly is a beautiful thing.
WHAT IF WE REGRET OUR DECISION?
We don't believe that you will and we are always here to help you try out new ways at making things work best for your family. However, if you give it your all and things aren't working out no matter how much you want them to, your children can go back to school. You may not get your child a place at their previous school but you can apply to schools at any time during the academic year and appeal decisions made if necessary.
One of the reasons I wanted to start Wonder and Bloom was to heighten the profile of natural learning. The school system is set up in such a way that often ignores opportunities for natural learning yet we know that children learn best when they are engaged; when they have a genuine interest in the topic; and most importantly, when they are having fun! This is exactly why natural learning is the best way for our children to learn.
